We will be updating our website with new pictures next month. For now we would like to show how you can use our doorway swing. It has been a very busy summer for us. Due to union strike in Toronto, kids could not go to city-run camps and they kept us occupied. That is why we haven’t updated our blog for a while, but we have several announcements.

We have been asked numerous times if we have a large hammock chair that can be used as a therapy swing for children with autism. Decorating Kids’ Room

There are so many products and ideas to decorate a room for a newborn baby. Many parents spent months creating a perfect nursery room before the baby is born. And what happens when kids get older? Many of us are just caught in a cycle of shopping for more and more storage for toys. And in time gorgeous nursery rooms transform into huge toy chests. But if we look around there are plenty of products on market that can help us to create beautiful and functional kids’ rooms.

If your kids’ room is big enough, you can install DreamGYM Indoor Jungle Gym. Cuddle Swing

The Cuddle Swing Arsalooly has arrived this week.  My children and their friends were happy to test it and they loved it. It is made of high quality stretching fabric (92% cotton and 8% lycra) and has soft, natural feel. The cuddle swing gives children experience of being in a cocoon providing womb-like safety and comfort. The Cuddle Swing is also recommended by occupational therapists for children with autism to help stimulate child’s vestibular system, and to give deep touch pressure. Arsalooly cuddle swing has a four-way stretch and you will not get bagging in highly stressed areas.

Hammock Therapy Swing

This weekend we filmed our son playing in a Hammock Swing. He was playing “Peek-A-Boo” game crawling inside the hammock and popping up at different places. As you can see in the video it was so easy for him to move up and down, he even bent over the edge to say “Peek-A-Boo” under the hammock and he didn’t tipped over. This hammock swing is very safe and comfortable. It is adult size, so parents can use too.

Swing Therapy for Autistic Children

Most of us have no problem combining all our senses. For autistic children (and grownups) however, it’s a mighty challenging task. Processing stimuli from the senses of sight, smell, sound, touch, taste, balance and body is overwhelming. Those suffering from autism will often withdraw to avoid overstimulation, or try to sort out the input from their senses with self-developed soothing mechanisms and repetitive behaviours.

A significant amount of occupational therapy for autism focuses on sensory integration through specially designed programs. Some of the greatest tools for sensory integration therapy for autism type disorders are various types of swings. People with various autism spectrum disorders such as Autism, PDD, ADHD, Asperger’s, proprioceptive dysfunction and tactile defensiveness will benefit from using swings as part of their therapy.

Additionally, children and adults with Sensory Processing Disorders (also called Sensory Integration Disorders), especially those with proprioceptive or vestibular dysfunction, should definitely have swings or hammocks as a crucial element of their treatment.

As of February 2nd the currency exchange rate is $1CAD=$0.81US. Therefore, our Chica hammock chair for children is only $104.64US including shipping. It is even a bit cheaper than Amazonas hammock ($108.76US including shipping). Since the exchange rate fluctuates, prices of these two hammocks are comparable.
